A few interesting things. 🧠
Return to Office: Amazon announced that employees will be required to work from the office five days per week. RTO policies are increasingly affecting commuting patterns in cities throughout the country. Time to sharpen up those corporate TDM plans!
Parking Policy: An analysis of Austin’s Affordability Unlocked program found that developers built about 25% less parking than was required under the city’s previous parking minimums.
Transit Tech: The MBTA is installing tablet-based dynamic navigation systems in its buses to provide better information for bus operators during detours and other service disruptions. The pilot expands upon the MBTA’s recent innovations in bus dispatching software.
Housing: Boston Mayor Michelle Wu and the City Council are debating several proposals to use some of the city’s free cash balance to support housing construction. Mayor Wu’s proposal would use city funds to help bridge financing gaps for stalled projects - including over 20,000 units that have been previously permitted but remain unbuilt.
