King Street Transit Priority Corridor in Toronto
Dan, our Transit Practice Lead, took a quick break to catch some films at the Toronto International Film Festival. Each September, Toronto’s King Street Transit Priority Corridor transforms into the TIFF red carpet - not too shabby a cameo for one of North America’s pioneering transit priority pilot projects. Be sure to check out some of the best films at TIFF in theaters over the coming months.
A few interesting things. 🧠
This Week in Buses: Lisa Jacobson, Senior Program Officer for Mobility at the Barr Foundation, provides a must-read postmortem on BostonBRT - a 10-year effort to demonstrate the benefits of Bus Rapid Transit in Boston. Lisa highlights the compounding benefits of capacity building across transit agencies, cities, and community organizations, as well as the power of an effective pivot. The MBTA and its municipal partners have made huge strides in improving transit priority infrastructure. Our team is excited to see cities across the country adopt lessons from this initiative! And here is a bus lane in action in Baltimore! 🚌💪
New Research, Housing Edition: Some recent research on how approval timelines effect new housing production - with a focus on Los Angeles. 🏗️🏠
New Regulations: The rulemaking process for adopting the Accessibility Guidelines for Pedestrian Facilities in the Public Right-of-Way has reached its final stage - codifying improved practices for future roadway construction.
A quick Journey update. 👷♀️
